How to reduce your water weight naturally:

  • Stop eating too much salt and sodium. Restrict your daily intake of sodium and salt to 1000 milligrams in a day, till the time your water retention problem goes away.
  • Avoid processed foods as they are full of sodium/salt content. Go for fresh fruits and vegetables instead. When buying canned or tinned foods, do check the label for the sodium content.
  • Make best friends with alternative spices such as lemon juice, homemade chilli sauce, which is low in sodium content, oregano, homemade vinegar and so on.
  • Drink plenty of fluids. Juices of all sorts, preferably homemade juices should rank high in your day-to-day fluid choices. Herbal tea is good for you. Ironically, the more water you drink, the lesser water your body retains.
  • Eat small meals through the day. Don’t go hungry for more than 3 hours in a day.
  • Go for fruits such as apple, melons and grapes. Not only are they rich in potassium content, but they also maintain fluid levels in your body.
  • In vegetables, opt for diuretic varieties such as green leafy vegetables, cucumber, lettuce, carrots, onions, peppers and so on.
  • Go for whole grain produce more often.
  • And last, but not least, exercise. Sweating it out is your biggest weapon against weight retention.
